Biplane Crashes Along Pasco Roadway

The pilot said he had engine trouble, according to Pasco County Fire Rescue.

PASCO COUNTY – A single engine biplane crashed into a ditch along Chancey Road today (Feb. 23), according to Pasco County Fire Rescue.

The names of the pilot and his passenger were unavailable. Firefighters said the pilot refused medical care. The passenger was taken to a hospital with minor cuts.

Firefighters received a call of an aircraft emergency  on Chancey Road at County Road 54 about 2:15 p.m. When they arrived, they found a single engine biplane in a ditch with two people lying on the ground.

The pilot told firefighters he was flying from Leesburg to Zephyrhills when he experienced engine trouble. The pilot said he tried to land the aircraft on Chancey when he clipped a stoplight,
and crashed into a ditch.

Firefighters checked the aircraft for hazards, and turned the scene over to law enforcement.
