The five injured included four children, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A Riverview man died Sunday (April 30) of injuries he received in a traffic crash, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

Keith L. Thompson, 79, of Riverview, died at St. Joseph’s South Hospital where he was taken after the crash. The driver of the other vehicle, Robert D. Smith, 41, also of Riverview, and his four passengers, three aged 13 and one aged 9, were taken to Tampa General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash happened about 2:56 p.m.on Big Bend Road at the intersection of Lincoln Road. Smith was driving his 2006 Chevrolet HHR eastbound on Big Bend when he tried to turn left onto Lincoln.  Deputies said the turn took him across the path of the 2001 Infiniti G20 driven by Mr. Thompson, who was headed west on Big Bend. The Infiniti hit the passenger side of the Chevrolet, which overturned.
