Bicyclist, Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in 102nd Avenue Crash

Both the motorcyclist and the bicyclist were thrown from their vehicles, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

PINELLAS COUNTY – A motorcyclist and a bicyclist were both seriously injured in a traffic crash Wednesday (Nov 7) evening, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

The motorcyclist, Anibal V. De Los Santos, 25, of Largo, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in serious condition. He was wearing a helmet. The bicyclist, Edward Austin Jablon, 28, also of Largo, was taken to Bayfront in critical condition. It is unclear if he was wearing a helmet.

The crash happened about 7:38 p.m. at the intersection of 102nd Avenue N and 97th Street in Pinellas County.

Troopers said De Los Santos was driving a 2009 Honda CBR west on 102nd “at an excessive rate of speed” when he collided with Jablon, who was riding a bicycle in an unknown direction. Both were thrown from their vehicles.
