Bicyclist Dies in Pinellas Park Hit and Run

He was trying to cross 66th Street N, the Pinellas Park Police Department said.

PINELLAS PARK – A homeless man riding a bicycle died Tuesday (March 13) when he was hit while trying to cross 66th Street N, the Pinellas Park Police said.

John Robert Glenn Instasi, 56, died at the scene.

Officers said Mr. Instassi was trying to cross 66th from east to west at 121st Avenue N about 8:46 p.m. when he was hit. Mr. Instasi’s bike did not have any lights on and the vehicle that hit him left the scene.

Police are looking to locate the driver and the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run crash. The vehicle is described as being an older model SUV-type vehicle, which is tan or light colored, with possible front end damage. The vehicle may also have a dim right rear brake light. It was last seen traveling north on 66th Street towards Ulmerton Road. There is no driver description at this time.
