Bicyclist Dies after Hillsborough Crash

The bicyclist was hit while trying to cross a street, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A bicyclist died Saturday (Sept. 3) after he was hit by a pickup truck while trying to cross a road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The name of the cyclist is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The crash happened about 8 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 60 and Knights Avenue. Hung Nguyen, 40, of Valrico was driving a 2014 Toyota Tundra east on SR 60 west of the intersection with Knights Avenue. Troopers said the cyclist traveled into the path of the Tundra when he tried to cross SR 60 and was hit. The bicyclist was taken to Brandon Regional Hospital where he later died of his injuries.
