Bicyclist Critical After St. Pete Hit and Run

St. Petersburg police are asking for help in finding the hit-and-run driver.

ST. PETERSBURG – A bicyclist was critically injured Saturday (Oct. 14) in a hit-and-run crash, St. Petersburg police said.

Connor James Bolton, 23, was taken to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg in critical condition.

The crash happened about 8:42 p.m. in the 4200 block of First Avenue N. Police said Bolton was riding his bicycle eastbound on First Avenue, against the flow of traffic when he was hit head-on by a westbound vehicle.

The bicycle and Bolton came to rest in the middle of First. Police said the vehicle stopped momentarily, then took off westbound on First Avenue N.

The vehicle was described as red or burgundy on color, possibly a General Motors truck or SUV. The vehicle should have damage to the front end and possibly to the hood and windshield. Anyone with information should contact the St. Petersburg Police Department non-emergency line at (727) 893-7780.
