Atlanta Braves Rookies’ Bus Rear Ends Car on I-4

A passenger in the car suffered minor injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A motor coach with 25 members of the Atlanta Braves organization was involved in a minor crash on I-4 in Hillsborough County this morning (July 5), according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Nona Saroca, 52, of Schiller Park, IL, was taken to South Florida Baptist Hospital with minor injuries. There were no other injuries.

Donald Kales, 49, of Orlando, the driver of the motor coach, was cited for careless driving, troopers said.

The 25 passengers were Gulf Coast League Braves, the rookie-level minor league baseball affiliate of the Atlanta Braves.

The collision happened about 9:34 a.m. on westbound I-4 near Thonotosassa Road. A 2016 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Liberato Saroca, 49, of Schiller Park, was stopped in the center lane The driver was unable to control and stop the bus, a 2011 Van Hool C-2045. The motor coach rear ended the car.
