66th Street Crash Kills Bicyclist

The bicyclist failed to yield right of way at an intersection on 66th Street N, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.

PINELLAS PARK – A homeless man died Monday (Sept. 3) of injuries received in a traffic crash on 66th Street N, the Pinellas Park Police Department said.

James R. Paisley, 49, died at a hospital of injuries he received in the crash.

The crash happened about 12:15 a.m. at the intersection of 66th Street and 62nd Avenue N in Pinellas Park.

Police said Mr. Paisley was riding his bicycle in the northeast corner of the intersection. At the same time a Nissan pickup truck driven by Shannon Sutter, 26, of Holiday, was traveling north on 66th crossing the intersection of 62nd Avenue on a green light.

Mr. Paisley failed to yield the right of way and was hit by the Nissan. Police said Mr. Paisley and his bike were carried about 100 feet by the Nissan until Sutter could carefully brake in order to protect Mr. Paisley who ended up on the Nissan’s hood.

No charges are expected, officers said.
