49th Street Crash Kills Pedestrian

She was looking at her cell phone while trying to cross 49th Street N, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.

PINELLAS PARK – A St. Petersburg woman died this morning (Dec. 27) of injuries she received when she was hit while trying to cross 49th Street N, the Pinellas Park Police Department said.

Danielle Nicole Harb, 41, of St. Petersburg, died at a hospital where she was taken after the crash.

The crash happened about 6:42 a.m. in the 8800 block of 49th Street N. Officers said Ms. Harb was trying to cross 49th from east to west when she walked into the median lane of traffic while looking at her cell phone and not paying attention to her surroundings.

She was hit by a 2016 Dodge Challenger driven by Christine Crawford, 29, of Pinellas Park, who was traveling north bound on 49th in the median lane. Crawford remained on scene and cooperated with investigators. Police said no criminal charges or traffic citations are expected to be issued.
