Sunshine Grand Prix Is a Week of Pedal Power

The cycling event began today (March 25) in St. Petersburg then moves around Tampa Bay until it concludes next weekend with two days of events in Brooksville.

TAMPA BAY – The Sunshine Grand Prix is an initiative of the nonprofit Florida Cycling Foundation.

The event is a week-long series of bicycle rides, races and other bike-related events that feature both professional and amateur riders.

The event started today (March 25) in St. Pete with the St. Pete Shines touring rides. One was a 25-mile ride; the other, a 45-mile ride.

Other events:

Sunday (March 26): American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure, Lake Nona, which is the association’s largest fundraising event with routes available for all skill levels.

Sunday: Grand Fondo Florida, San Antonio. This ride is open to all and has three distances: 30, 60 and 100 miles. It also has a cash purse.

Wednesday, (March 29): “EPIC” Hills training ride, Odessa/Lutz. This ride is billed as a Tampa to Brooksville (Hernando County Hills) event. It has 20-, 40-, 60- and 100-mile options.

Friday (March 31): Tampa Bay Criterium Race, Pinellas Park.

April 1, Brooksville Cycling Classic, Brooksville. This has several races and other events, including a fitness festival.

April 2: Powell Hill Time Trial race and the Ice Cream Hill road race.
