ST. PETERSBURG – The city of St. Petersburg has been recognized as the highest rated city for bicyclists in the state of Florida by PlacesforBikes.

Of the 485 cities recently evaluated, St. Pete was rated 22nd in the nation overall and 11th in the U.S. for the pace at which conditions are improving for bicyclists (acceleration category).

“As we have been focused on making the city of St. Petersburg a friendlier place for cyclists and pedestrians, this is great news,” St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman said. “I want to thank People for Bikes, and most important of all, everyone in the Sunshine City who rides a bike or helps to make life easier for those on a bike.”

PlacesForBikes is a PeopleForBikes program to develop, connect and celebrate great places to ride. It offers a data-driven approach to identifying the best U.S. towns for bicycling.
