The XTERRA Claw 5-mile and 10-mile trail run is back at Alafia River State Park.

LITHIA – Registration is open for the XTERRA Claw 5M & 10M trail run.

The Claw is not your average trail run, organizers said. You can expect some rough going with a few sections that are off-trail. There will be a stream crossing or two and it will depend upon the river level as to how wet you get. The course will take you into parts of the Alafia River State Park that are closed to the public.

The 5-mile course is a nice course of double track with some single track. It includes a stream crossing.

The 10-mile course includes all of the 5M course with another 5M that takes runners into the Florida outback with some off-trail running. There will be sections in the 10M where runners are running off-trail and wondering if they will ever get out. The course will be well marked so you don’t have to worry about getting lost, but it will definitely tire you out.

The Claw is scheduled for 8 a.m. May 6 at the Alafia River State Park, 14502 Couty Road 39 S, Lithia.
