Weeki Wachee’s famous mermaids haven’t performed for audiences since November when construction began on an underwater theater.

WEEKI WACHEE – The Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Florida Park Service invites you to see the world-famous mermaids of Weeki Wachee Springs State Park at the Newton Perry Underwater Mermaid Theater, which reopened Friday (May 24).

Guest can watch the Weeki Wachee mermaids at the state park’s underwater theater where the mermaids perform underwater acrobatics. The theater has recently undergone renovations where new floors, seating, lighting and ceilings were installed. The renovations preserved the historic theater’s mid-century theme.

“Weeki Wachee Springs is one of the iconic attractions of old Florida,” said Florida Park Service Director Eric Draper. “It’s important to preserve this cultural landmark and provide an unforgettable experience to every visitor who comes to see the Weeki Wachee mermaids perform.”

Weeki Wachee’s famous mermaids haven’t performed for audiences since November when construction began on the underwater theater. While the theater has been closed, the mermaids have been choreographing a brand-new show, practicing more than six hours a day and performing in aquariums around the Southeast.

Beginning Friday, admission for the park will be $13 for an adult and $8 for a child. The mermaid shows are included in the admission cost. Memorial Day weekend showtimes are scheduled as follows:

Today (May 25) through Monday (May 27): 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. The Legendary Sirens will perform at noon and 2 p.m.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Theater doors open 30 minutes before the show. For regular showtimes and information about the mermaids, go to weekiwachee.com.
