HCC Player Named Captain of New Zealand Volleyball Team

The team will play in the upcoming Asian championships.

TAMPA – Hillsborough Community College volleyball player, Petra Manderson, has been selected as the captain of the New Zealand U23 Women’s Volleyball team in this summer’s Asian championships.

Petra and NZ U23 will compete in the Asian U23 Women’s Volleyball Championship in Thailand from May 6–May 23. Team New Zealand will train at the FIVB Training Centre in Bangkok before traveling to Nakhon Ratchasima to play in the tournament.

“Petra has worked really hard in the off season, and it shows,” said HCC head volleyball coach Gary Larkin. “She is great choice for captain, and her physical play will undoubtedly make a difference. We are so proud of her, and we’ll all be Kiwis this summer.”

Hillsborough Community College serves more than 45,000 students annually at its five campuses located throughout Tampa Bay. The college is accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
