DUNEDIN -The Toronto Blue Jays, which have made Dunedin their spring training home since their inception in 1977, will play 13 home games at Dunedin Stadium next season.

Their 2019 spring training schedule, which was released Friday (Aug. 31), lists a total of 31 games during Grapefruit League play.

The first home game will be on Saturday, Feb. 23 against the Detroit Tigers. The Jays home schedule also features two matchups against the New York Yankees (March 3 and March 14), a showdown with the hometown Tampa Bay Rays (March 12) and a pair of games against cross-town rivals Philadelphia Phillies (Feb. 28 and March 6).

Season tickets will go on sale Oct. 30;  Flex Packs (3-plus game packages), Nov. 7; and single-game tickets, Nov. 26.

The club also announced Friday that additional information on exhibition games in Montreal will be released in the coming weeks.

Located at 373 Douglas Ave., Dunedin Stadium has a capacity of 5,509 and also features a press box level with air-conditioned skyboxes and a picnic area.

On Nov. 2, 2017 the Dunedin City Commission approved a 25-year License Agreement between the city and the Blue Jays which included a $81 million renovation commitment for Dunedin Stadium and the Englebert Complex on Solon Avenue. In April, the Pinellas County Commission unanimously voted to use $41.7 million in bed taxes to help fund the upgrades, with the city of Dunedin paying $5.6 million, the state of Florida $13.6 million and the Blue Jays contributing $20 million. Renovations are expected to commence after spring training. (For related story, click here.)

The Blue Jays who are in fourth place in the American League East, 31 games behind the division leading Boston Red Sox, appear to be headed towards a rebuilding period, but feature some of the game’s best prospects including third baseman Vladimir Guerrero, Jr., middle infielder Bo Bichette, catcher Danny Jansen and infielder Cavan Biggio who all could be competing for roster spots next spring during Grapefruit League play.
