St. Petersburg came in at 48 on the 150-member WalletHub list.

TAMPA BAY – Tampa is ranked as the 15th most fun cities in America for 2017, according to WalletHub’s latest ranking.

St. Petersburg tailed Tampa, but at No. 48, it is in the top third of 2017’s Most Fun Cities in America.

In making the rankings, WalletHub compared the 150 most populated cities across three categories: 1) Entertainment & Recreation, 2) Nightlife & Parties and 3) Costs. They then graded each city within those categories using 58 total characteristics, such as the number of restaurants per capita and the diversity of those restaurants. The measurements include only the city itself and not the surrounding area.

Tampa came in at No. 11 for entertainment and recreation; 22 for nightlife and parties; and 57 for costs. The overall ranking landed it in the 15th spot. It also ranked No. 3 on a list of cities with the most festivals per capita.

St. Petersburg, on the other hand, ranked 66th for entertainment and recreation, and 66th for nightlife. But, it ranked higher than Tampa for costs – 48 versus 57th.
