Organizers say speakers will emphasize the importance of standing up for immigrants and refugees.

TAMPA – Community leaders are scheduled to hold a panel discussion Tuesday (Feb. 21) about President Donald Trump’s executive orders on immigration and the impacts they are having on communities across the country and refugees looking to enter the U.S.

As arrests of undocumented immigrants rapidly increase, organizers say they have been alarmed by stories of DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients being apprehended, legal residents having their green cards revoked, and other actions that, they say, target immigrants and religious minorities. As the administration appears committed to pursuing the deportations of millions of immigrants and reinstating the “Muslim ban” that was struck down by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals earlier this month, organizations from across the Tampa Bay area are gathering to discuss these important issues and hold a conversation about what’s at stake as a result of Trump’s executive actions.
