First Night Celebrates 25 Years in St. Pete

First Night | New Year's Eve | Events

The goal of First Night is to celebrate the arts. This will be the event’s 25th anniversary of ringing in the new year with live music, entertainment, drama, dance, games, art, fireworks and more.

ST. PETERSBURG – There’s something for everyone at First Night, this city’s annual family-friendly New Year’s Eve celebration of the arts.

The first First Night event happened in 1993. Since then, St. Petersburg has rung in each New Year by celebrating the arts. The event, which has become Florida’s largest family-friendly New Year’s event celebrating the arts, begins at 4 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 31) and runs through midnight at multiple venues in downtown St. Pete. Festivities include music stages, entertainment, drama, dance, games, art, fireworks and more.

First Night is supported almost entirely by private funds. Button sales are important to make sure that the tradition of First Night is available for the years to come. Many venues are only accessible with a button. All artists are paid and the event is produced by a small, part-time staff and volunteers.
