The Gecko Queen needs to represent everything that is Gulfport – fabulous, friendly, fierce, fun, and open-minded – throughout the year at events like the Gecko Fest.

GULFPORT – This city is seeking the Sixth Gecko Queen who will be crowned at the 2018 Gecko Ball on Aug. 25.

The Gecko Queen needs to represent everything that is Gulfport – fabulous, friendly, fierce, fun, and open-minded – throughout the year at events like the Gecko Fest and Gecko Crawl, St. Pete Pride Parade, and Gulfport July 4 Parade, to name a few.

Gulfport is a city like no other, and the Gecko Queen should be a person like no other, organizers say. Who can be Gecko Queen? A Gulfport resident of any gender, 21 years and older, who enjoys the spotlight and has a positive message to share with the community.

Gecko Queen hopefuls should submit a letter, photos and/or video to demonstrate why they should be Queen. Previous applicants are welcome to apply. This year’s chosen Queen will be expected to take the stage at Gecko Ball to accept the crown with flair and confidence.

Additionally, the Queen’s costume needs to reflect this year’s theme GeckoCon, which celebrates comic book and pop culture characters, heroes and villains, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and of course, geckos.

The Queen will be chosen by the Gecko Ball Committee and informed before the Ball. The submission deadline is July 1.

To apply, submit self-nominations to Faun Weaver, Gecko Queen Emeritus, by email to faungds@yahoo.com, along with photos or videos to best represent your Queen qualities.
