Volunteers Needed to Help Clean Up Pasco

Anclote Gulf Park | Pasco County | Holiday

This year’s Great American Cleanup includes a beautification project at Anclote Gulf Park in Holiday.

PASCO COUNTY – Be #PascoProud and join Keep Pasco Beautiful for the Great American Cleanup.

The cleanup is 8 a.m. to noon Saturday (March 3). Volunteers for this national event are needed in all areas of Pasco.

“This year we’re excited to add a beautification project that will take place at Anclote Gulf Park,” Keep Pasco Beautiful Coordinator Kristen King. said  “And volunteers in the Holiday area are planning several cleanups in their communities, as well.”

Anclote Gulf Park, 2305 Baillies Bluff Road, Holiday, is a Natural Resource Park and is known for its Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail where visitors can see various kinds of birds from the pier and trail. It has a fishing pier that is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Pasco has been part of the Great American Cleanup since 1992 – empowering community members to pick up litter and debris along roadways, waterways and public spaces. Nearly 500 volunteers picked up 28 tons of trash throughout Pasco during the 2017 event.

The Great American Cleanup is one of two cleanup events held annually and is a collaboration between Keep Pasco Beautiful and Pasco County Government. The mission of Keep Pasco Beautiful is to improve Pasco County by engaging the community in sustainable efforts to reduce litter, promote waste reduction and encourage beautification.

This is a great event for high school students to earn community service hours.  Teams are registered to take part in the 2018 Great American Cleanup in several areas – including Dade City, Holiday, Moon Lake, Lacoochee, New Port Richey and Crystal Springs.
