Registration is still open for the Goody Goody Turkey Gobble 5K run on Thanksgiving Day. The event supports the Tampa YMCA’s LIVESTRONG program.

TAMPA – On Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 24) beginning at 7 a.m. at AMALIE® Arena, the Goody Goody Turkey Gobble 5k, chip-timed race will be the premier 5K Thanksgiving Day event in Tampa.

The route is an out and back course taking participants across the Platt Street bridge and along the beautiful and scenic Bayshore Boulevard.

Starting from humble beginnings 10-plus years ago when a group of joggers met at the downtown YMCA to run before starting their Thanksgiving Day festivities, this once small gathering has turned into a cherished Tampa tradition. In 2016, the 2nd Annual Goody Goody Turkey Gobble once again attracts generations of participants as they gather to celebrate the holiday with families, friends and co-workers while furthering the cause of the Tampa YMCA to strengthen the foundations of community through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.

Participants will enjoy a post-race breakfast from Goody Goody Restaurant. Prizes will be awarded to first place overall male/female and first place overall male/female youth (ages 12 and younger). The next 50 men and 50 women finishers, regardless of age, will receive a commemorative gift.

All proceeds raised from the 5K will support the Tampa YMCA’s LIVESTRONG® cancer wellness programs. The free 12-week program offers people affected by cancer a safe, supportive environment to participate in physical and social activities focused on strengthening the whole person.
