The city kicks off the celebration Sunday (Jan. 8).The 32nd Annual “MLK Dream Big” Parade on Jan. 16 anchors St. Pete’s celebration.

ST. PETERSBURG – This city is holding an extensive lineup of events to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan. 16).

The celebration includes nine events:

SOUNDS OF THE CIVIL RIGHTS MOVEMENT:THE POWER OF SONG
3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Sunday (Jan. 8) and 7 p.m. Monday (Jan. 9)

36th ANNUAL MLK HIGH SCHOOL ESSAY CONTEST FINALS

Students make their final oratorical presentations at the Enoch Davis Center, 1111 18th Ave. S.

32nd ANNUAL “MLK DREAM BIG” PARADE
11 a.m. Jan. 16
Please note the new route. The parade reverses course for 2017: Parade begins at Central Avenue and Second Street, heads west to MLK/9th Street., turns south for one block, then turns west, proceeds along First Avenue S to 16th Street turns south again to Third Avenue S, disbanding near Lot 1, Tropicana Field.
Grand Marshal: Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

SECOND ANNUAL “MLK DREAM BIG” 2017 FAMILY FUN FESTIVAL
2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Jan. 16, immediately after the MLK Parade.
East side of Tropicana Field, Parking Lot 7A. Free admission. Free activities, games and more. Live entertainment, Kids Zone, food and art vendors (items available for purchase).
