DJs Will Battle in St. Pete

The event will feature contests between local DJs and dance groups.

ST. PETERSBURG – The 2nd Annual Battle of the DJs: How to Prevent Crime in the Black Community event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.Saturday (Aug. 6) at Campbell Park, 601 14th St. S.

This will be the second year of the event featuring contests between local DJs and local dance groups, as well as an essay and poster contest for middle and high school students. The essay and poster contest are focused on the question “What should be done to prevent crime in the black community?” Prize money will be awarded to contest winners and free school supplies will be distributed.

The event is organized by Successes Unlimited Women & Youth Business Center, founded by community activist Theresa “Momma Tee” Lassiter. The St. Petersburg Police Department is one of several co-sponsors.
