TAMPA – Celebrate the coming of autumn at the three-day Oktoberfest in Tampa this Friday (Oct. 7) through Sunday (Oct. 9).

Oktoberfest Tampa 2016 is a time to unwind and make new friends, learn new customs and sing a few songs. It will feature plenty of beer along with a variety of exciting games and competitions. Old favorites and new exciting challenges await competitors this year including: Stein Hoisting, Keg Stacking, Carry the Wench, Tug-O-War, Grain Sack Toss, Corn Hole and more. There are individual games along with team competitions of various sizes. Participation in all the events is more important than ever before because there are bragging rights on the line. And there’s German food from pretzels to schnitzel and everything in between.

You’ll find German cheer, dancing and singing to cooler weather and colder beer along the Hillsborough river downtown at the Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, 600 N Ashley Drive. Hours: 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
