Brooksville Reschedules Founders Week Celebration

The rescheduling of events from Saturday (Oct. 8) to Oct. 15 include the Run for the New Beginning 5K.

BROOKSVILLE – The downtown Brooksville Founders’ Week activities have been rescheduled because of unpredictable weather from by Hurricane Matthew.

Originally scheduled for Saturday (Oct. 8), the events will be moved to Oct. 15. Previously scheduled downtown events that day will not be affected. Addition of new activities will merely serve to make for an even larger Founders’ Week Celebration.

Activities will begin at 7:30 a.m. with the Run for New Beginning 5K, and continue until 3 p.m. with live music, more than 40 vendors, a Taste of Brooksville food tasting, car show, costume contest, scarecrow building and more.

Brooksville, founded in 1856, is a small, family-oriented community rich with history that welcomes all to come and experience historic homes, hill top vistas, gorgeous old oaks, and local color.

Powered by the Brooksville Vision Foundation, the Brooksville Main Street program aims to bring economic growth, vitality, and historic preservation to one of Old Florida’s most iconic small towns. Brooksville Main Street is an official “Florida Main Street Community” as designated by the Bureau of Historic Preservation, Division of Historical Resources, and the Florida Department of State.
