Faiths Come Together in Tampa for National Day of Prayer

Religion | Interfaith | Interfaith Summit

An interfaith summit on the National Day of Prayer is designed to send a message of love and unity, peace and harmony.

TAMPA – In a first for Tampa, members of several faiths will gather Thursday (May 4) to stand in solidarity on the National Day of Prayer.

“At a time when so much divides us, we want to remember that there is much which unites us. This event will be a chance to stand together, to hear prayers and teachings from different traditions and to mingle together so that we can begin to create deeper bonds,” said Aida Mackic, the Council on American-Islamic Relations-Florida interfaith and youth program director who spearheaded the event.

This event will include Jews, Muslims, Christians, and Buddhists who will each offer a traditional prayer. The occasion will also create a safe space for people of different faith communities to connect with members of other faith traditions.

The summit is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Franciscan Center, 3010 N Perry Ave., Tampa. There is no charge but to RSVP and for tickets, go to eventbrite.com
