A father and his two children, ages 5 and 9, died. Their mother was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A vehicle went off an overpass killing at father and two children early Sunday (Nov. 6), according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Ronald L. Green, II, 31; Sariyah Green, 9; and Ronald L. Green, III, 5, died at the scene. Tiffany Lasha Young, 26, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with serious injuries. All were from Bartow.  Neither Mr. Green nor Ms. Young were wearing seat belts, troopers said. The children were in safety seats or wearing seat belts. Blood alcohol tests are pending on Mr. Green and Young.

The crash happened about 2:26 a.m. on I-75 north of State Road 60, troopers said. Mr. Green was driving a 2005 Maserati north on the interstate when he lost control of the vehicle. The car entered the center median, collided with a guardrail and concrete barrier wall, then overturned over the barrier wall.

The Maserati then fell between the I-75 overpass onto Woodberry Road, ejecting both adults from the vehicle. Troopers said the car came to rest on Woodberry Road and caught fire. The fire was put out by firefighters from Hillsborough Fire Rescue.

Firefighters said that witnesses reported seeing the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed before the driver lost control.
