Four buildings were damaged during Friday’s bad weather, Hillsborough Fire Rescue says.

TAMPA – More than 30 people were evacuated from four apartment buildings Friday (May 19) because of damage caused by bad weather, according to Hillsborough Fire Rescue.

A total of four buildings at Serenity Lake Apartments were initially evacuated, but code officers allowed residents to remain in one building. That left three buildings evacuated over night. The Red Cross helped more than 30 residents and provided shelter to 14 of them. There were no injuries.

The damage appears to have been done by the bad weather, fire officials said.

Firefighters were called to Serenity Lake about 9 p.m. for a report about an apartment building with roof damage at 14536 Seaford Circle. When firefighters arrived, they confirmed that an apartment building had severe damage to the roof and started to evacuate the residents.

While that evacuation was ongoing two more apartment buildings were observed to have damage. One building had roof damage, and the other had cracks in the wall. Those residents were also evacuated.
