Pinellas Suncoast Fire District Seeks Task Force Members
The task force will discuss, among other things, funding for the district.
INDIAN ROCKS BEACH – The Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District is seeking interested parties to serve on a community-based stakeholder’s task corce.
The mission of this group is three-fold: to identify any additional opportunities for operational efficiencies; to explore current and future funding concerns; and lastly, to identify funding strategies that are fair and equitable to the taxpayers while ensuring sustainability for the district. This direction was established by Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue District Commission.
The group would be meeting twice a month for an undetermined period of time. The dates/times of the meetings, duration of the meetings, further details, and the “rules of engagement” would be established at the initial meeting. To ensure continuity, it is important that participants commit to meeting attendance as the district needs to have the varied viewpoints represented.
The task force will include the fire chief, the district’s finance director, the board chair, and a single representative from each of the following areas. The unincorporated area of the District (Oakhurst) will have two representatives based upon population.
o PSFRD practitioner (firefighter/lieutenant/district chief)
o town of Indian Shores
o city of Indian Rocks Beach
o town of Belleair Shore
o town of Belleair Beach
o unincorporated area within the fire district (Oakhurst)
o business owner from anywhere within the fire district
o rental property owner (multiple units) from anywhere within the fire district
Applications are due no later than Dec. 28. The Fire Commission is expected to make appointments at its January meeting. An application form is available at the district’s website, psfrd.org, or email email@example.com to request one.
