PINELLAS PARK – Police Lt. Adam Geissenberger graduated the FBI National Academy earlier this month.

FBI Director James Comey was the guest speaker for the Dec. 16 event. The 225-member graduating class was made up of men and women from 48 states, the District of Columbia, 20 countries, five military organizations and eight federal civilian organizations.

The National Academy program began in 1935 and has graduated 49,686 elite men and women from this professional law enforcement program. The program, held over 11 weeks in Quantico, VA, is considered the “premier law enforcement executive leadership school in the nation” and covers a curriculum that teaches courses in investigations, management and fitness training. Most graduates from the program return to their agencies to serve in executive leadership roles within their department’s administration.

Geissenberger joins other Pinellas Park police officers who have completed the FBI National Academy: Chief Michael Haworth, former Chief Dorene Thomas, Lt. P. Andrews (retired), Capt. J. Green (retired) and Captain S. Forseth (retired).

Geissenberger began his career with the Pinellas Park Police Department in 2000, and has served in several capacities within the agency including patrol, youth services, school resource officer, narcotics detective, professional standards, patrol sergeant, records supervisor, public information officer, services section supervisor, and patrol lieutenant. He is currently the shift commander for the department’s midnight patrol division. He has received the chief’s commendation award and several distinguished service awards. He was the department’s officer of the year in 2012.
