Pinellas Park Man Dies After House Fire

The Pinellas Park Police Department said it appears the fire was accidental.

PINELLAS PARK – A man died after a fire Friday (March 16) in the house where he was living, the Pinellas Park Police Department said.

Gilbert A. Murphy, 60, died at Northside Hospital where he was taken after he was found. The Pinellas County Medical Examiner will determine the cause of his death.

Pinellas Park firefighters and police were called to a house fire at 5549 97th Terrace N about 7:35 p.m. Friday. When they arrived, the house was on fire. Firefighters found Mr. Murphy unconscious in a recliner in the bedrooom

Firefighters resuscitated Mr. Murphy and he was taken to Northside. He was the only occupant in the house.

The initial investigation has revealed nothing suspicious and indicates that food on the stove might have caught fire, police said. At this time, it appears the fire was accidental.
