The crash happened at Clearwater Airpark.

CLEARWATER – The pilot of a single-engine planed died Friday (May 5) while trying to land at the Clearwater Airpark.

The pilot was James R. Fink, 44, of Exeter, RI. He was flying a 2007 Cirrus fixed wing, single-engine aircraft and was coming to town for a business conference.

Although the investigation is in its early stages, it appears that the plane flipped while trying to land. It came to rest lying upside down.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board will take control of the investigation when their representatives arrive.
