Passenger Dies after Fight with Uber Driver, St. Petersburg Police Say

No charges have been filed as the investigation continues, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

ST. PETERSBURG – A passenger who was involved in a fight with an Uber driver has died, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Terry Lynn Kimball, 56, died at a hospital, police announced today (Aug. 12). Mr Kimball was taken to the hospital after Thursday’s (Aug. 10) fight with serious brain trauma.

Police said Mr. Kimball was picked up about 7:30 p.m. Thursday by Uber driver, Kabir O’Farril Diaz, 38.

The two had a dispute over the route the driver was taking. The driver pulled over to the Quick Pick Foods store, 800 58th St. N., and they had a physical altercation. Police said Diaz punched Mr. Kimball who did not regain consciousness.

Investigators are speaking with witnesses and Diaz is cooperating, officers said. Diaz has not been charged but the investigation is ongoing.
