The Anclote River at Elfers is forecast to go well into major flood stage today (Sept. 4).

PASCO COUNTY – The Anclote River is rising and is expected to reach near major flood stage over the next few days.

The Anclote River at Elfers is forecast to go well into major flood stage, 25.8 feet today (Sept. 4) at 2 p.m.  The Anclote River gauge has been reporting 4 feet below actual levels.  The National Weather Service is coordinating with the River Forecast Center for accurate reports at this time. And additional rain Saturday pushed many rivers and lakes in West Pasco County over their banks and is causing flooding.

At 3 p.m. Saturday, Pasco County Emergency Services Director Kevin Guthrie issued a mandatory evacuation order for residents in the following areas, where utilities have been shut off due to rising water:

• Worthington Court Apartment complex, Rowan Road and State Road 54 in New Port Richey – map at bit.ly/2co5IaX
• Blue Heron Mobile Home Park, 6615 Massachusetts Ave., New Port Richey
• Elfers Parkway Area along the Anclote River – east of Moog Road,west of Seven Springs Boulevard, south of SR 54, north of Old Oak Street – bit.ly/2c3gfsY

A recommended self-evacuation is in effect for residents in the following areas:

• Bass Lake Area, New Port Richey – bit.ly/2cpbYlw
• Lake Worrell, New Port Richey – bit.ly/2bMRnss
• Magnolia Valley Area, New Port Richey – bit.ly/2c2hTfn
• Suncoast Gateway Mobile Home Park, 6010 Ridge Road, Port Richey – bit.ly/2cdNM3c

Pasco Fire Rescue and Pasco Sheriff’s Office crews are on scene in these areas, warning residents of potential danger.  Residents are urged to heed the warnings and to not put their lives in danger.

Evacuees are encouraged to stay with family/friends; however, if that is not possible, they will be bused to the Mike Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter in Hudson.  If you evacuate, make sure you bring your ID, money, any medicines, and pets. If you live in ANY flooded area and feel your safety is at risk, call Pasco County Customer Service at (727) 847-2411 and rescue crews will come get you.  If it’s an emergency, please call 911.

Pasco’s evacuation efforts during Tropical Storm/Hurricane Hermine are shown in the following numbers:

• 209 patients were transported from Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point on Thursday after a lightning strike took out a hospital generator
• 50 people were evacuated using PCPT buses or Paratransit Bus Service since Thursday. That number does not include the people who went home with relatives
• Total citizens evacuated since the storm began: 259 people transported by the Pasco County government

Mike Fasano Regional Hurricane Shelter numbers:

• Total:  39 people have been sheltered during the storm
• As of 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the shelter count: 15 citizens, 2 pets

Pasco County Customer Service Center is available for citizens with non-emergency questions and requests.  The Customer Service number is (727) 847-2411 will closed at 11:59 p.m. Saturday. It will reopen at 8 a.m. today. Residents can report flood damage by emailing customerservice@pascocountyfl.net.
