Man Dies at Hillsborough Construction Site

The man was trapped in a pipe at the site, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A man died after he became trapped in a pipe at a construction site Wednesday (Feb. 14), the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

His name is being withheld pending next of kin.

Hillsborough sheriff’s deputies and Hillsborough Fire Rescue were called about 5 p.m. to a construction site at U.S. 301 and State Road 60 after receiving a report of a man trapped inside a pipe.

When deputies and firefighters arrived, they found a man trapped inside a below-grade pipe with unknown injuries. Firefighters with the Hazmat team ventilated the pipe to allow rescue workers to get inside, but once inside found that the man had already died.They recovered his body and took it to the Hillsborough County Medical Examiner’s Office.
