Horses Evacuated for Fire at Tampa Yacht and Country Club

There were no injuries reported. Fire marshal’s investigators will determine the cause of the fire.

TAMPA – Twenty-seven horses were evacuated at the Tampa Yacht and Country Club to keep them safe from a fire in a building next to the stables, Tampa Fire Rescue said.

No injuries were reported.

The blaze broke out about 10:20 p.m. in a newly built maintenance building that housed equipment for the club, 5320 Interbay Blvd. in South Tampa.

When firefighters arrived, they found flames coming through the roof across the entire 100 foot by 20 foot, single-story masonry building.

Horse stables located adjacent to the burn building were evacuated. People on the premises pitched in to move 27 horses out of the stables to ensure their safety.

Firefighters had the fire under control by about 10:45 p.m.

Investigators from the fire marshal’s office were on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
