Thirteen people were left homeless from the blaze, according to Hillsborough County Fire Rescue.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – A kitchen fire in an apartment building Sunday (Aug. 7) sent two to the hospital and left 13 without a place to live, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

Information was not available on the severity of the injuries suffered by the two victims. The Red Cross arrived to help those who had been displaced.

Firefighters received the call about 4:30 p.m. When they arrived at 5906 Santa Fe River Drive, they found a two story, four unit apartment building in flames. It took 35 firefighters from the Hillsborough and Temple Terrace fire departments about 30 minutes to put out the blaze, which began in a kitchen. A total of four apartments were involved, two with heavy fire damage and two with smoke and water damage.
