Hillsborough Deputies Help Woman Give Birth at Fair

The mother and her new daughter are stable, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Deputies patrolling the Florida State Fair on Friday (Feb. 9) answered an unexpected call for help – from a woman who went into labor.

Hillsborough sheriff’s Deputies Roberto Ramirez and Henry Echenique heard a woman asking for help as her water broke about 4 p.m. The two veteran deputies jumped into action and within minutes, they helped the woman’s husband delivered a healthy baby girl near the expo hall in the main fairway.

Echenique caught the baby and held her until paramedics arrived.

In all, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office said 10 deputies helped with the delivery.

Mom was taken to St. Joseph’s Women’s Hospital where she and her new daughter were in stable condition.
