Tenants in two of the three apartments were left without housing.

TAMPA – One person was found injured during a house fire in Tampa on Tuesday (May 16) night, according to Tampa Fire Rescue.

Timothy Dewitt Williams, 60, was taken to Tampa General Hospital with fire-related injuries. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Firefighters were called to 4515 N 41st St. about 9:48 p.m. The first firefighters who arrived found heavy smoke and flames coming from the center of the single-story wood residence, which contained three separate apartments. Firefighters began fighting the flames while conducting a search of the property. Firefighters were able to account for tenants in the two end apartments and found one in the center unit.

Firefighters were able to get the fire under control by 10:10 p.m. Four adult tenants who lived in the other two units were displaced and are being helped by the American Red Cross.

Fire investigators are on scene to determine the cause and origin of the fire. Initial investigations indicate no sign of foul play, firefighters said.
