One Found Dead After Mobile Home Fire

The fire destroyed the mobile home, which was in a salvage yard, and the furniture and refuse surrounding it, according to Hillsborough Fire Rescue.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – One person was found dead after a mobile home fire in a salvage yard early this morning (Sept. 5), Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said.

The identity of the deceased person was not released. A second person who was in the mobile home was treated for minor burns to her hand.

Firefighters said they were called to a structure fire in the 1600 block of 51st Street S the scene about 3:08 a.m. Firefighters arrived on the scene about 3:17am to find smoke and flames coming from a trailer
within a salvage yard. The structure was fully engulfed as were furniture and refuse from the yard.

Firefighters attacked the blaze which had spread to surrounding piles of debris from the salvage yard and trees. The fire was under control within 30 minutes.

One resident was found to be deceased within the mobile home structure. Both the cause of the fire and the death are under investigation by the Hillsborough County Fire Marshal’s Office.
