One Dead After Boating Accident
The boat hit a piling near Davis Islands, according to Florida Fish and Wildlife officials.
TAMPA – A man died and a woman was seriously injured Sunday (Aug. 5) in a boating accident near Davis Islands, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said.
Tampa Fire Rescue found the woman and took her to Tampa General Hospital. She had serious injuries. The man was later found and taken to Tampa General where he was declared dead. FWC investigators were working late Sunday to identify the two.
According to a witness, a 15-foot Gheenoe struck a piling and both the man and woman ended up in the water.
FWC officials are investigating the incident.
