A piece of heavy equipment overturned and trapped him underneath, Tampa police said.

TAMPA – A Land o’ Lakes man died Saturday (Sept. 15) while working at the Selmon West Extension project, the Tampa Police Department said.

Kadri Elmazi, 68, of Land O’ Lakes, died at the scene.

Mr. Elmazi was operating a “roller” machine on a dirt embankment when the machine toppled, trapping him underneath. Other construction workers at the scene used a cable and an excavator to lift the roller off Mr. Elmazi. He was declared deceased about 20 minutes after the accident, police said.

The case remains under investigation, though at this time all evidence indicates that it was a tragic industrial accident, officers said.
