The boat had taken on water.

CLEARWATER – The Coast Guard rescued three boaters Saturday (Jan. 21) after their 30-foot boat took on water about 3 miles west of Clearwater Pass.

At 11:15 a.m. watch standers at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg received a call on marine band radio channel 16 from the boaters asking for emergency help because their boat was taking on water. A crew from Station Sand Key was launched, arrived on scene and “dewatered” the boat. After stabilizing the flooding, the Sand Key boat crew towed the boat and boaters to Largo Intercoastal Marina.

There were no injuries.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office helped in the rescue.
