ST. PETERSBURG – The U.S. Coast Guard medevaced a 43-year-old diver from a boat 20 miles west of Egmont Key today (Aug. 13).

About 11:06 a.m. watchstanders from Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg said they received a call via VHF-FM marine band radio channel 16 from crew members aboard a 23-foot boat. They said a diver in their party had surfaced experiencing dizziness and had requested medical help.

A flight surgeon was notified and recommended the man be medevaced.

A boat crew from Station Cortez was launched, arrived on scene and took the man to Fort De Soto Park Bay Pier.  He was transferred to emergency medical service paramedics in stable condition.
