Boy, 11, Shoots 10 Year Old in St. Petersburg

Police are investigating the incident.

ST. PETERSBURG – A 10-year-old boy was shot in the arm and shoulder at a home in St. Petersburg this morning, police said.

The boy has been taken to the hospital and is responding well to treatment, according to the St. Petersburg Police Department.

Little is known of the shooting, which happened a little after 10:30 this morning (May 29). Police said the child was shot by an 11-year-old boy who was in the home on 17th Avenue S at the time. A 17-year-old boy was watching several children at the home when the shooting happened, officers said.

Officers said the childrens’ parents are cooperating. Officers are still determining who owns the gun.
