USF Students Plan Solidarity Rally to Support Immigrants
Student activists say they will detail how President Donald Trump’s actions affect them and declare that they are “Here To Stay.”
TAMPA – Student activists at the University of South Florida plan to rally on campus in solidarity with undocumented and immigrant communities left vulnerable by what they say are President Donald Trump’s harmful executive orders on immigration.
Speakers will share the stories of undocumented immigrants on campus and discuss what they said they believe is at stake if no one acts to protect immigrant communities.
Recently Mehdi Zeyghami, a Ph.D. student from USF was left stuck in Iran after Trump signed a travel ban on Muslims. With more than 1,400 international students from 139 different countries, students and attendees will highlight the importance of USF serving as a welcoming community for all and take a stand to declare that they are “Here to Stay.”
