Darden Rice is running for reelection to the District 4 seat on the St. Petersburg City Council.

ST. PETERSBURG – Darden Rice says that more than 100 supporters contributed $23,020.34 during the first 16 days of her reelection campaign.

Rice announced her campaign for reelection on Feb. 13, leaving just two weeks to raise money before the first finance deadline.

“I’m thankful for the outpouring of support for my reelection campaign,” Rice said. “We’ve made great progress together in the past three years in St. Pete. Our city and our neighborhoods are stronger because we’ve worked together. I want to continue that progress.”

During her time on City Council, Rice has been an advocate for numerous causes and community issues including improving transportation, making local government more efficient and transparent, fighting for a cleaner environment, and promoting policies inclusive of all St. Petersburg residents.

So far, Rice is the only candidate running for Seat 4. Qualifying begins at 8 a.m. June 8 and ends at 5 p.m. June 23.

The St. Petersburg primary election is scheduled for Aug. 29 with the general election set for Nov. 7. Seats 2,4,6 and 8 on the council and the mayor’s seat are on the ballot. Council members serve four-year terms.
