FSU Names Waters a ‘Distinguished Alumni’

Leslie Waters is mayor of Seminole.

SEMINOLE – During the Florida State University Homecoming events last month, Seminole Mayor Leslie Waters was presented with a 2017 Distinguished Alumni award for her consulting work in international affairs.

Since 2004, Waters has traveled to work with political candidates, political parties, political advocates, elected officials, and community leaders in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe.

The Distinguished Alumni Awards program was established by the FSU College of Education more than 25 years ago to provide a process for honoring graduates who have distinguished themselves through service to their profession and through scholarly, creative and/or humanitarian achievements. Peers nominate the candidates, and a committee of emeritus faculty selects the winners.

“It is a great honor to be recognized by the FSU College of Education, an institution that provided me with the education and life skills that have done me well,” Waters said. ”Skills that have helped me impact democracies worldwide.”
