Carl Zimmerman is running for the District 3 seat on the Pinellas County School Board.

PALM HARBOR – Carl Zimmerman is kicking off his campaign tonight (May 23) for the District 3 seat on the Pinellas County School Board.

The kickoff event is at 6 p.m. at Tiffany’s Family Restaurant, 35000 U.S.19 N in Palm Harbor.

Zimmerman is a is a three-time Tampa Bay Journalism Teacher of the Year and 2003 State of Florida Journalism Teacher of the Year. He served two years in the Florida House of Representatives where he sat on the Education committee, K-12 sub-committee, higher education and workforce sub-committee and Military and Veterans Affairs committee.

He is running for the District 3 seat on the Pinellas County School Board, which is elected countywide. It is currently held by Peggy O’Shea, the board’s vice chair. So far, the only other announced candidate in the non-partisan race is Nicole Carr.

The primary is Aug. 28. The general election is Nov. 6.
