Webb, Gerard Endorse Orsini for St. Pete Council

Scott Orsini is running for the District 1 seat on the St. Petersburg City Council.

ST. PETERSBURG – State Rep. Jennifer Webb and Pinellas County Commissioner Pat Gerard.have endorsed Scott Orsini in the race for the District 1 seat on the St. Petersburg City Council.

“I support Scott because he cares about finding answers to the tough questions we need to deal with at the state and local level,” Webb said. “Scott is committed to protecting our environment, improving our transportation options, and creating more affordable housing. I look forward to working with him on these important issues when he’s elected.”

Gerard said, “Scott has the experience, work ethic, and temperament needed to be an effective member of St. Petersburg City Council,” Gerard said. “His family law practice is all about finding common ground, understanding both sides of an issue, and creating solutions that benefit everyone. I have no doubt that Scott will serve the citizens of District 1 well, and I wholeheartedly endorse his candidacy.”

Both Webb and Gerard are Democrats. The St. Petersburg council race is nonpartisan.

“Rep. Webb and Commissioner Gerard are committed public servants, and I’m honored to have their support,” Orsini said. “They are both strong advocates for St. Petersburg, and I’m excited to work with both of them.”

Orsini, who announced his candidacy in early January, has also been endorsed by St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman and outgoing District 1 City Councilman Charlie Gerdes.

Thus far, Orsini is the only candidate in the District 1 race.

The St. Petersburg primary is Aug. 27. The general election is Nov. 5.
